My feet really took a bad hit working all those hours last week. Got some bad blisters under my feet and they've been hurting so bad. So annoying since I actually used my trainers every day. They are supposed to be good shoes!!

Anyway they still haven't healed completely and yesterday I could barely walk all day. It was so painful.
So today I didn't set my alarm, woke up at 12 and have since then just tried to keep my feet off the ground.

Come on just heal already!

Today me and Riah spend the entire day on the beach.
Utterly wonderful

xx

I've had a great day with Riah today.
The weather has been perfect! Finally not too hot outside.
We took the ferry over to Staten Island. Walked around a bit. I dropped some blue ice cream on my shirt so we took the ferry back to Manhattan.
Went to see the 9/11 memorial site.
Ate at TGI Fridays.
Saw Grown Ups 2 at the cinema.

Great day

So the show I went to see tonight was a Burlesque show.
I've never before seen an actually burlesque show and it was an experience to say the least!
haha.
It was really fun though, a lot of jokes which was great.

My beautiful friend Riah... oh sorry... Joanie... was acting as a Stage Kitten.
And she did a marvellous job.

The show was at Times Scare which was a really cool creapy place.
The drinks they had there was absolutely crazy!
How about a "Death in the afternoon" or a "Black Death" or why not a "Corpse Reviver"?

Thank you so much Riah for a great night!

Me and Miss Millie xx

Me, Riah and Mary-Beth... My eyes are pretty weird here

I love New York..
But I love these gurls more!

20 days and counting down! Can't wait to see these faces and get back to our life.
You make me who I am. Love you so much and miss you even more!

<3

Get ready to celebrate <3

I was just looking through my photos on instagram and this feeling of incredible happiness and gratefulness came over me.

It’s not every day I just stop and take a second to appreciate my life.
But honestly, I’m so very blessed!

I have the most amazing friends that fill my days with joy and love.
I have the best family who supports me in everything I do and love me just for who I am.
I’m fortunate enough to have seen many places around the world.
I have lived in 4 countries and learned how to adapt to new cultures.
I have loved and lost but also learnt to appreciate my own value.
I have seen my dreams come true and from that created bigger and brighter goals.

I have no idea where the future will take me…
However, if it’s anything like my journey so far I know I have nothing to fear.

The places I’ve been, the people I’ve met, the adventures I’ve been a part of….

It all makes me so happy to be me and to be alive

So much love <3

So I can officially say that this has been the hardest working week of my life.
I've had an amazing time and absolutely love working with film but oh boy is it tough.
I feel like I've turned into a vampire since I haven't really been out in the sun for a long long time.

Yesterday we wrapped on shooting at the sugar factory.
I actually got a bit of a promotion a few days ago :) Didn't really have time to write about it but I got promoted to be using a walkie... haha! Not the biggest thing in the world you might say but for me it felt like a big deal.
Yesteday we were very short on crew as well which meant I became the key PA. Awsoooomeness :D

Now I've slept for about 24 hours. Well needed sleep but I'm now ready to get back to life.
We are not going back to shooting until wednesday and I haven't been told how much more they will need PA's. Hopefully I get to work a lot more, really want to, but we shall see.

I was also told that they thought I was the best PA and eveyone was really happy with my work the other day. I've never felt more happy or proud since I truly have worked my butt off to try and make an impression. It's so great to know that someone noticed!

Today I'm going to see a show with some friends. It's one of the other girls from my class who is also here interning last show.
Now I have to clean up my appartment/flat (hehe).
It's such a mess since I haven't really been here in a week.

Only 21 more days to go!!

xx Maria

got promoted to use a walkie talkie :)

Could leave the set early (literally) today.
Such a beautiful walk to the subway.
Sun is just about to come up.

Falling in love with Brooklyn

Well Morning there..
OK it's not exactly morning but since I went to bed at 7.30am and just woke up 30 min ago for me it's definitely morning.
So like previously explained, this week we are filming over night. My first night on set was yesterday and it went very well I think. I didn't get crazy tired to my big surprise.
However that will probably happen today since I haven't slept that much.

Anywhoooo, it's currently puring down outside. Raining so bad but it's thankfully not that hot. The set will probably be extremely sticky humid so yay to that. not

We are filming at an old sugar factory and it's extremely sticky everywhere. There is old sugar dripping from the ceiling so the odds of you not getting filthy is really small. When I got in this morning the first thing I did was jump in to the shower and what a glorious feeling that was.

Well I now have a an hour before I have to leave for todays shoot.

xx Maria

Right now I'm getting ready to meet up with some friends in the city.
I am actually getting a sneak peak of the nightlife tonight. Pretty exciting :)

On sunday I'm back on set and the working hours for next week are 5pm to 5am!!
I have never worked during the night so it will be another new experience.
Looking forward to it actually.

Well now I really have to go so I'm not late.
xx

The view from set when I left last night. Breathtaking <3

So as you might have noticed I've been pretty bad at updating the blog for a while now.
To be honest it has not been because of lack of time (I wish). It has been a conscious decision from my end due to the fact that I honestly haven’t been doing anything for most of the time I’ve been here.
All I have done is been a tourist every day. Not saying that that has been boring in any way. I’ve gotten to see some amazing things and experience some great parts of NYC but that wasn’t the reason I flew over here in the first place, as you all know.

At my internship there just hasn’t been that much for me to do. Basically nothing at all for me to do and I’ve felt very ashamed of that since I know how gracious and generous so many people were towards me and this trip.
I never wanted to disappoint anyone by not actually doing any work while I’m out here so I just stopped writing about my time here instead of feeling like a failure.

HOWEVER, in the beginning of this week I just felt that it was time for me to maybe start looking at some other places to intern while I’m here. There must be someone who needs an extra FREE hand for a few weeks.
A new friend of mind told me about a website called Mandy.com so I checked it out and sent out several emails.
The same day I got a reply from a film production currently shooting a feature film in Brooklyn that I could join the team and work as a Production Assistant.

So today my dear friends and family I have for the first time in my life worked at a real film shoot.

It has been the most amazing experience (and exhausting) of my life. So incredibly fascinating to see how a real shoot actually run. This is what they call a low budget film but holy smokes… if this is low budget I would loooove to see a Hollywood film shoot. I mean this isn’t the most luxurious experiences but it is truly a real production.

We have had about 40 actors today and there has been around 30-40 people working as crew of different sorts.

Wow there’s so much I would like to say about this day but to be honest I’m so tired right now I almost want to cry.

Found out yesterday evening that they wanted me to come in and work today.
My call time (the time I had to be there) was 6am!!!! (06.00)
That meant I had to set my alarm for 4am, leave my house at 4.20am. (I got 3,5 hours of sleep)
Got to the location at perfect timing 6am and have been working nonstop for over 15 (!!!!!!!!) hours in 36 degree weather!
Talk about being thrown into the deep end of the pool.

It has been amazing though and everyone on set has been so kind and supportive.

Never have I gotten so many compliments for my shirt as today. Haha everyone found my t-shit to be extremely funny. Which was great… but I didn’t really think about how people would view the text on it when I put it on this very early morning.

Well after being away from my house 19 hours today I think that will be it for now.

Tomorrow and Saturday I have two days off from shooting. So tomorrow I will continue my story about all that happened…. MY FIRST DAY ON SET!

(Yes there is a new story beginning right now)

Stay tuned!
Good night all of you lovely beautiful people

xx

My t-shit that helped me and was the biggest ice breaker on set today. Thanks Oscar Wilde for that :)

So I decided to watch my all time favorite New York movie tonight.
You've Got Mail
But my favorite film is not even on Time Out's top 100 list of New York Movies. I'm so disappointed! See the list HERE
I Love this film so much though. I've probably seen it 30 times. Such a feel good film :)

Watch it if you haven't already
xx

Today has been a truly lovely day!
Went into the city to meet up with my beautiful friend Leslie one last time since she's going back home to Texas tomorrow. (saaaaad face)
We had lunch at Shake Shack and then walked to central park where we sat down on a bench, had some starbucks lemonade and watched the kids play baseball. I'm so grateful and happy I met her and I'm sure this was not the last time we saw each other. I think it's the beginning of a beautiful friendship! :)

After that I kind of had to run several blocks to make it on time to an internship meeting. I wasn't late to start with but it turned out to be a bit harder to find my way out of central park than I though... so I had to sprint down Park Avenue on the Upper East Side.... that was fun. Ran past lots of women, that all probably shop at Chanel, like a sweaty mess and did not feel disgusting at all... (yes that was sarcastic).
Made it just in time for the meeting so I guess the running was worth it.

The meeting went great. We talked about future projects and I now have some more stuff to do which is great.

Now it's time for a film in bed... not sure which though..

Lots of love from NYC xx

What a day 4th of July turned out to become.
I'm still so happy just thinking of it. It is one of those days I will remember forever I think.
Started off with me, Millie and Riah meeting at Millie's place. We then went and bought food and drinks for the entire day.
After researching I knew there were going to be an obscene amount of people watching the fireworks, so to make sure we had a good spot we positioned ourselves in the park on one of the piers leading out into the hudson. Basically exactly where the fireworks were going to be.
We got settled at around 2.30 pm and the show was going to start at around 9pm... in other words, we had a lot of time to kill.
It didn't seem that long though. We had a big blanket, great food, ICE to keep us chilled and umbrellas to protect us from the worst sun.
There was such good atmoshpere around and everyone was having a great time.We passed the time by chatting, laughing, eating, singing, dancing, playing games and soaking up every ounce of the experience as possible.

I could easily do that every day, if it hadn't been for the heat. That was the only thing that was really hard. It was so so so warm and sticky. Some people had been clever and wore bikinis underneath their clothes... well we weren't that clever so we spent the day sweating it out. Buying ice was the best idea we had! It honestly saved us :)

The fireworks started at around 9.30 pm and they were truly incredible!! Well worth the wait.
I'm so happy I got to actually experience 4th of July in America and in NEW YORK.
I will truly remember it forever!

xx

We got photographed by Time Out New York!!! That was so amazing! Guess planning the outfits really did pay off! Photo credit: Time Out New York

Happy 4th July everyone :)

I'm heading into the city to meet up with Millie and Riah and later tonight watching the Macy's firework

X Maria

Manicures are one of the best things I know in the world. I walked passed a place really close to where I live that had $9 manicures yesterday!
That's so cheap!!!!

So today I went to get my nails done and of course got a Independent day red ;)

4th July coming up whooop whooop

(Actually I'm still at the salon because the rain is pouring down outside and I have no umbrella with me... Oops)

X

Moorning everyone!

I'm sorry I've fallen behind on the blogging over the last few days.
I've had some fantastic days though.

All of monday I spent with my two classmates who are also here interning in NYC and some of their friends.
We had a walk around china town, a lot of girltalk, dinner at amazing Mission Chinese Food, we went to the cinema to se The Heat and finally finished the day with a cocktail at Hard Rock Cafe and a lot of laughing.
A perfect day!

(Also the film The Heat was HYSTERICAL, it's a must see for sure!!!!)

Yesterday I spent most of the day having a headache. Not very exciting. Just stayed in and relaxed.
In the evening I went into the city for a Connect group which was very nice. :)

Today I need to get some more internship work done and then I need to plan 4th July that's coming up tomorrow!
Very excited for that :)

Independence day bring it on!
x Maria

Next to these people I'm a giant!!! That's fun.......

I've had such an incredible day :)
